Masada and the Dead Sea: A day trip from Jerusalem
It’s a strange thing when I feel like sleeping in, and Victoria suggests waking up at 3:30am for two hikes and a swim in the Dead Sea, but that’s just what happened one day in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is a city on hills, which makes it a beautiful, and challenging city in which to run. From buildings that are thousands of years old to brand new bikeways and pedestrian streets, it’s got a lot to offer anyone wishing to hit the pavement. (more…)
Dubai, UAE
While not on most backpackers or budget world traveller’s lists due to the expensive nature of Dubai, we ended up there during a visit to my sister, brother-in-law, and niece. While Dubai is unfortunately high on the beer index (a cheap beer being about 15 CAD in most places!), it does offer several things to do and see for the budget-conscious traveller, and having a free place to stay sure helped us.
Running in Dubai
Dubai is, to put it simply, hot. While we were there it was regularly 35C or more during the day, and would dip down to a cool 25-30C at night. (more…)
